KCIM helped Paran ENG improve MEP BIM collaboration through shared Revit templates, parametric families, hands-on training and technical support. Aligning standards improved data consistency and design quality while reducing rework and supporting faster responses to design changes.

How Paran ENG Drives Design Innovation with BIM Expertise

1. About the Client

Paran ENG Co., Ltd. is a technology-driven engineering company delivering high-quality design services across BIM disciplines, built on its expertise in Revit-based MEP design. The company has proposed efficient BIM strategies spanning design, construction, and maintenance. In particular, it has put Executable BIM into practice through extensive project experience and technical capabilities in construction MEP.

Its major projects include the INSPIRE integrated resort, pharmaceutical plants, hospitals, and battery factories. Using Autodesk Revit and Navisworks, the company has minimized design errors and improved construction efficiency through clash detection and quantity takeoffs during construction. In the LG Sciencepark Phase 3 construction project and the Gwangyeong-dong apartment SHOP BIM project in Gwangyang, its accumulated BIM experience delivered tangible improvements in design and construction for clients.

2. Background and Challenges of BIM Adoption

For projects involving complex MEP systems, minimizing design clashes and enabling efficient multidisciplinary collaboration are critical challenges. Drawing on years of experience with Revit-based BIM design, Paran ENG identified Autodesk solutions as the most reliable tools for ensuring quality and improving collaboration, and actively adopted them.

However, recurring practical difficulties arose when delivering MEP design for general buildings using BIM. Inconsistent templates and modeling standards among partners frequently reduced data compatibility, while differences in team members’ Revit proficiency made it difficult to balance speed and quality. Gaps in communication during collaboration also increased design risk.

These issues led to the recognition that the company needed to improve its organization-wide BIM operating framework, rather than simply focus on the use of individual tools.

3. A Technical Partnership Beyond Supplying Solutions

To embed BIM capabilities throughout the organization, Paran ENG needed a technical partner that could contribute to meaningful changes in working practices and measurable results, beyond merely supplying solutions. It therefore chose KCIM, which carefully analyzed on-site requirements and jointly planned tailored technical solutions, rather than taking a one-way, product-feature-focused approach.

3.1 Establishing Standards Grounded in Project Needs

Through a series of workshops and meetings with Paran ENG’s practitioners, KCIM gained an in-depth understanding of workflows, modeling methods, and the format of design deliverables. Together, the teams defined shared Revit templates, parametric families, and model management guidelines. This enabled a high degree of alignment in standards across partners and internal teams, as well as consistency between models.

3.2 Project-Based, Hands-On Training

Rather than limiting support to short training sessions, KCIM developed a project-based, hands-on curriculum focused on rapidly improving team members’ Revit proficiency. Workshops using live project files and assignment-based exercises went beyond theory to build skills that could be applied immediately. This helped bring BIM proficiency to a consistent level across the team and stabilize design quality.

3.3 Fast and Accurate Technical Support

One of the most impressive aspects of the collaboration was the speed and accuracy of the technical support provided whenever requested. Improvement proposals were accompanied by practical examples grounded in the actual working environment, creating an atmosphere in which practitioners could respond proactively with a high level of trust.

4. Key Outcomes

Through its collaboration with KCIM, Paran ENG achieved tangible results in several areas.

In design quality, establishing a modeling environment based on standardized templates and families minimized design errors. In collaboration, aligning standards among partners and internal teams ensured data consistency. Standardized modeling methods also reduced rework and significantly improved the speed of responding to design changes. In organizational capabilities, hands-on training brought BIM proficiency to a more consistent level, while real-time collaborative workflows naturally became established.

On the technical side, Revit modeling data was linked to Navisworks for clash detection and construction sequence simulation. Integration with the client’s Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) environment also established a workflow for systematically managing design changes.

5. Future Plans

Paran ENG plans to continue strengthening data-driven Executable BIM in BIM-based MEP design. Through Autodesk solutions and ongoing collaboration with KCIM, it aims to advance its technical capabilities by improving design accuracy at each Level of Development (LOD), developing maintenance models based on property data, and preparing for AI-based design automation.

Through its partnership with KCIM, Paran ENG is building an exemplary case that goes beyond BIM adoption to achieve both design innovation and stronger organizational capabilities.
